Man utd manager Louis van Gaal has revealed Red Devils defender Phil Jones missed Sunday's 1-1 English Premier League home draw with Chelsea due to shin splints.The English international made his United comeback after four games out which has a hamstring injury from the 2-2 draw at West Bromwich Albion on Monday.

But following your 22-year-old was absent again to the Old Trafford clash while using Blues, Van Gaal gave an update on Jones' condition and said he didn't know how long his latest setback would keep him sidelined for. "The match against West Brom was his first from long injury period," Van Gaal said. "We brought him back and he trained for over a week using the first team, then had to play 90 minutes.

"He then had a sore feeling in his shin. On Saturday he couldn't continue training, though it became a very light session prior to match. He shin splints, which is very painful. I'm not sure just how long it should take (for him to recuperate)."
