Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers acknowledged he was disappointed the club was missing from the UEFA Europa League to Besiktas on penalties but said they might now pinpoint the English Premier League and FA Cup.

"I am disappointed certainly to search call at the manner we did," Rodgers said following away relate Istanbul which saw Besiktas level the aggregate score 1-1 and win 5-4 on penalties inside Round of 32.

They have to now also pick themselves up for the crunch league clash against Manchester City for the weekend.

"We could just concentrate on our league campaign, that's now going better, and then we come with an excellent opportunity in other competitions," added Rogers. "I'm able to only give credit to my players. Unfortunately for all of us Istanbul hasn't been a happy position for us tonight."

He admitted Liverpool missed players from the quality of Steven Gerrard, who is injured. "I think until they scored the goal we had arrived quite comfortable. Out aim was to keep a clean sheet. We did miss a number of our creativity but it is no excuse."

Rodgers meanwhile had comforting words for Dejan Lovren, who missed the last and decisive penalty to provide Besiktas the victory. "We have been disappointed for him because he a good game.
